Tyson Fury surprisingly says Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury is an ‘even fight’ and claims event would be ‘two celebrities going at it’
Tyson Fury has declared that he believes Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury would be an ‘even fight’.
The WBC heavyweight champion of the world weighed in on the back-and-forth between his younger brother and the YouTuber, which he started with a provocative tweet last week.
It was a fair assumption to expect that Fury would back his brother, a 5-0 boxer who shot to fame on Love Island in 2019, to comfortably defeat the American who is 2-0 as a pro without facing a serious fighter to date.
However, Fury told iFL TV: “Jake Paul can fight, I’ll have you know.
“I think they’re both about the same kind of experience – had a few pro fights.
“Tommy had a limited amateur background, ten fights or something.
“I think it’ll be an even fight to be fair”
Tommy is currently at the early learning stages of his career, facing journeymen to build his record and develop his skills.
Meanwhile Paul has beaten fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and recently KOd former NBA star Nate Robinson.
Tyson continued: “The man’s 6ft 1ins, 185lbs, can box, can fight.
“We’ve seen him knock people out, we’ve seen him in the gym sparring.
“People can’t ‘just knock out’ a journeyman who’s had 50 losses in a row.
“So to knock out somebody who’s trying to win, it’s pretty hard, especially if you’re the same size and everything’s equal.
“I think it’ll be an interesting fight to watch and I think it’ll be an interesting fight for boxing because you’ve got two celebrities going at it.”
